Ministries
of the Church
Trinity provides opportunities
for family involvement within the church, in various ways, for both adults and
children. Take a look at what we have to
offer. Choose a group, large or small,
and become a part of the Trinity Family.
Prayer Ministry
When
persons in the congregation are mourning the loss of a loved one, being
hospitalized, preparing or recovering from surgery, residing in an
assisted living facility, serving in the military, or far from home, the Prayer
Ministry Team will be praying for them throughout the year. The Team meets on the
first Thursday of each month to be updated on those persons included in the
parish prayer list. The Team assists the pastors in maintaining the list of
those to be included in the Sunday bulletins. Each month, the Team members
study prayer and learn how the people of God have been sustained in a
disciplined prayer life. Members of the Team mail “prayer cards” to congregants
and keep in touch with those in need. It is not only those in need at Trinity,
but also in the greater church community. The Team prays for concerns throughout
the ELCA and throughout the entire Christian Church as well as for those in
other faiths. Any time there are crises on the Peninsula and Southside, the
Team will pray for those who are living in the time of trial and suffering. The
Prayer Ministry Team will make every effort to connect with prayer teams in
congregations throughout the region and encourage prayerful relationships with
other parishes in the surrounding areas.

Trinity
Lutheran School
When
the school opened on February 1, 1960, it housed kindergarten and first grade
in a small home adjacent to
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Nowadays, TLS serves
students ages 3 through grade eight in facilities including computer and
science labs, and a renovated gymnasium and preschool center. TLS is accredited
by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools and is working toward full
implementation of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme by 2013. It is the goal of the school to become
the only Hampton Roads-area independent school to be making this journey. The
program is part of the International Baccalaureate (IB), an organization at the
forefront of international education promoting high academic rigor,
problem-solving and critical thinking, self-management skills and personal work
ethic, and the ability to think outside the box.

Trinity Lutheran School is Lynne Fritzinger, who

Trinity
Center for the Arts
Trinity
Center for the Arts (TCA) is a ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church. Formed in
2008, its purpose is to provide quality group and individual instruction in the
arts for all ages from infants to seniors in a nurturing environment. During
TCA’s first year, Linda Madler received the Musikgarten
Achievement Award. In addition, TCA has been designated an Exemplary Program by
Musikgarten International for two consecutive years
(2008-2010). In fall 2010, the Musikgarten program
will be expanded to two locations (Trinity Lutheran Church and St. Andrew’s Episcopal
Church and School) and be named Musikgarten of Hilton
Village to reflect the geographical area served. In spring 2009, TCA presented
its first musical “Once Upon a Parable” to the Trinity
Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran School communities. In fall 2009, the
Trinity Puppet Ministry was formed. This team has provided puppet shows at the
Sunday School openings, at the Hilton-Area VBS, and
was cited in the April 2010 edition of The Virginia Lutheran.

Stephen
Ministry
Trinity
is a Stephen Ministry Congregation. Stephen Ministry is a ministry of active
listening and quiet caring for members and non-members. Stephen Ministers are trained, highly skilled lay members who are committed to
confidential care for anyone in need of special attention. Stephen Ministers do
not replace pastoral care or professional counseling — they are Christian
friends who listen while working through feelings. A Stephen Minister can be
such a friend, either to you or to someone you know.

Adopt-A-Spot
Trinity
has promised the city that for the next two years, it will be responsible for
cleaning the trash off Huntington Avenue from 50th to 70th streets. The
neighbors on all of these streets have been notified of our commitment. Each
year, the city will expect the congregation to clean four times and, in turn, the
city will assist by providing all of the aids for trash removal. The congregation is invited to volunteer to
help keep our neighborhood clean and attractive. The following dates and times
are provided; please mark your family calendars and join us for this community
event. Lunch will be provided in the social hall for each event! Clean-up will
begin at 1:00 p.m.
